While part of me has moved into the digital age, I like to think of myself as a music purest at heart. Wanting a do it all fix like everyone else, I shopped and selected a 5.1 receiver that I thought was THE answer. I opted for the Onkyo TX-SR 705. I could watch all the cool 5.1 flicks and select the Pure Audio function for listening to music with the same level of performance as with my aging integrated amp. Wrong. I'm not knocking the receiver, it does exactly what its designed to do, boldly reproduce the sound that accompanies todays motion pictures and reasonably replicate the pathetic compressed music files that weve been spoon fed. But, even when selecting Pure Audio and playing a MFSL CD, my Chorus IIs were in my estimation under performing. I'm pleased to say that for a very modest monetary investment, the M-282 has gotten me a lot closer to where I want to be. The installation was simple, even for me! and I hear a modest return to the rich sounds replicated by my old beloved late 70s Sansui integrated amp. I'm glad I broke my typical Irish mold of living with something being wrong forever rather than doing something about it. With all respect, this is the first thing I have bought from Vanns that was not double boxed, sigh.

This Amp works well with my yamaha A3000 receiver. Wanted to make my sound setup to 9.2 adding a extra amp with no volume control at the front panel and auto power ON unit can be turned ON by trigger 12V using an extra wire or just signals from left and right RCA input. Analogy like turning ON a Auto powered subwoofer, also needed 6 to 8 ohms, very clean sound and Onkyo m 282 fits the requirements. I was shopping around for other amps but for its power rating and reasonable price, good brand name, and Vanns fast shipping this is the winner.

I now own 4 Onkyo M-282 amplifiers. Experience owning one of their multichannel receivers led me to buy their two channel amp. This unit is cleanly designed and has above average build quality and heft for its price. The M-282 has no trouble driving any type of speaker with authority. I have connected M-282s to the outputs of an external electronic 3 way crossover device to drive woofers, midranges, and tweeters in a multispeaker system. I recommend the M-282 to anyone looking for an attractive high performance affordable amplifier.

My choice was either a long speaker wire connection from receiver to speaker, which would be bulky visible in my location, or a RCA cable connection much less conspicuous connecting this amp with my receiver. This allowed very short runs of speaker wire connecting the Onkyo amp to my speakers.
My online research suggested long RCA cable runs from receiver to amp with short speaker wire connections were the preferred connection versus long speaker wire runs from receiver to speaker . This setup is for the 6th and 7th speakers used in the back of my listening area.
I am satisfied with the Onkyo in this application - it blends in with the Polk speakers driven by my main receiver pleasingly.

I recently purchased this amp from Vanns and what a bargain it is. It is very difficult to find a quality inexpensive basic amp. I use this in my studio to run a couple of Polk towers with 2 300 watt 12 Polk subs and the sound is very smooth. It would be nice to have a little more power but at this price I am not complaining. By the way, Vanns did a great job processing the order.

First of all, let me start off by saying that this amp is a real BARGAIN! I bought it to replace one of the receivers I have used for years in my equipment rack that only had 25-watts per channel, it was simply lacking in power. I have it powering a pair of Realistic Mach IIIs that have 15-inch woofers and an 8-ohm load. One BIG reason that I choose this amp was its VALUE. At the low price Vanns had it on sale for, and with FREE SHIPPING and NO TAX, I could not resist. Also, after reading all of the other Reviews and seeing that everyone gave it a Five Star rating, it made me feel comfortable that I was not going to be disappointed, and I was not. This amp is great if you just want a Plain Jane power amp to add to your system or to dedicate for one purpose, since it has only 2-channels. The sound quality is very good, crisp and clear, and although 105 watts RMS per channel is certainly no Monster Amp, it powered my reasonably efficient speakers to a decent sound pressure level that produced just enough power to generate nice, tight Low Bass with a good Damping Factor. The only thing this amp is lacking, is either a pair of output Power Meters or even just two LEDs to indicate when it is clipping. Other than that, the fit and finish is of nice quality and it is simple and easy for even the non-technical person to hook-up. I would certainly consider buying a second one to further expand my system for additional power. Get them while theyre HOT!

After 20 years my Kenwood amp bit the dust. I was afraid I would need to scrap my seperate components system since it is practically impossible to find seperate components today. I then came across this Onkyo. Wasnt sure if this unit would do the job or not, but since there are no other options out there, I bought it. I was pleasantly surprised. Solid, quality construction, good sound, and of course great price! And it is in black like all the other components I had from the 80s and early 90s! Thanks to Onkyo for making the only power amp available today at least that the average person can afford. The only con to this unit is that it only allows you to connect one pair of speakers.

I have this amplifier supplying power to the second zone of my Home Theater-Stereo system. Allow me to set the scene...
I have a Marantz SR-5001 AV Receiver and I power the living room Bose Acoustimass 5.1 surround directly from the receiver. I use the Multi-Room Pre-AMP outputs and come directly into my ONKYO M-282 Amplifier that I bought from VANNS at a great price. From the amplifier I connect to a Monster Cables SS-6 Six Pair Speaker Selector box -also available at Vanns- and run the outputs to ceiling and wall speakers in my 1- Dining Room, 2- Office, 3- Master Bedroom and Bath, 4- Sunroom, 5- Pool and Patio Area.
This Amplifier has performed flawlessly. The power is evenly distributed via the speaker selector box. The 100wx2c amplifier is more than enough to power the number of speakers I have throughout the house, and handles the job no mater if the load is light or extremely heavy -all speakers playing at high volume-. The unit does get a little warm, but it is an amplifier so this doesnt surprise me. Just make sure there is enough air to flow around it. The Onkyo M-282 is a great value for the performance you receive. I recommend the M-282 for anyone serious about their sound or anyone needing that extra power to fuel multiple speaker pairsrooms.

I bought two of these to use with my Pioneer 815-k receiver. I'm bi-amping my two front speakers with these amps and the improvement was immediately noticeable. I was bi-amping them through my receiver before that. For the money this is a great way to improve sound. If you're looking for an inexpensive amp with good power and you don't need to drive 4 ohm speakers you can't go wrong with this amp. I wish they made a mono version so I could amp my center channel.

I have 3 of these amps used to bi amp my 7.1 Onkyo txnr900 HT and the increase in detail is so noticable I decided to order another to complete the setup and bi amp the center channel speaker also. I could have spent thousands on a system that has the capibility to deliver 200watts per 7channels but this gets the job done for much less. Hookup was virtually plug and play with minor adjustments just get some more speaker cables and go for it.

I have owned a quality audio system for the last twenty years. My speakers are Acoustat 4's, great electrostatic 4 ohm speakers. I owned two bridged Hafler amps and was enjoying the sound up until about a month ago when one of my amps died. While trying to locate someone to repair my Hafler, I ordered an Onkyo M-282 from Vann's in order to continue to be able to listen. I truthfully was only looking for a backup solution. Upon hooking it up to my system I truly was amazed. It clearly states that it should not be used below 6 ohms but it drives my speakers beautifully without overheating. The sound quality knocked me out to where I am considering making my Hafler's the backup system. Vann's delivered my Onkyo both quickly and carefully as the system was securely packed. It is really incredible that this quality amplifier could be so inexpensive.

They also do a great job of packing here.
