The correct EST (Eastern Standard Time) has been preset at the factory so all you have to do is plug in the ICFCDK50 and adjust the time zone if necessary. In case of a power interruption, the built-in Lithium battery maintains the correct time so when the power returns you don't have to reset the clock.

Sony usually delivers in quality and the price was reasonable for all the dded features.. Sound is average to above average depending on station reception but for use in the kitchen is perfect. It keeps the counter free of clutter and you can preset AMFM radio stations or attach your I-POD to listen, pop in a CD, has a lighted digital clock, a timer settingalarm for when cooking or reminding your kid that its time to leave for school , and has a magnetic remote that can hook onto the refrigerator so you are not hunting it all the time. Totally satisfied.!!!

The installation of this was straightforward, and everything needed to mount this device was provided, including the paper template for hole placement. Truly, the most difficult part of the process was emptying the kitchen cabinet so I could drill the holes. Operation is also simple and intuitive. Sound quality is excellent. Unbeatable value.

The radio arrived on the scheduled date. I installed the unit a few days ago. I`m very pleased at the sound and the ability to bring in many more AM and Fm stations as my previous unit. The remote really helps so I don`t have to get up and manually set the functions. Overall, I`m very happy.

I bought this item for my kitchen to replace an older model Sony under cabinet radio-CD player that Ive had for over 10 years that still works great and am passing along to my sister. I wanted to be able to connect my ipod touch and my daughters ipod nano.
First, the sound quality is even better than my old Sony - and it was pretty good, so I am happy with the product quality. Second and third, it was easy to install and it takes up less space than my old model - so two more features for the plus column. The silver color is nicer than the white color of my old one, so it will go well in an upscale kitchen. Finally, the MP3 player connectivity is great and works well. There is also a little holder for your MP3 player which is a nice feature too.
Overall, I would highly recommend this item - 5 stars out of 5!

Great radio. Got it and found it extremely easy to install. Looks great in my kitchen and the sound couldnt be better. The only problem I had with it was that the backup battery did not work. Replaced the battery, but still flashes indicating that the battery needs replacing. Not a big thing and will use it as is. Other than that, I am really pleased with it and consider it money well spent.

This item was purchased as a gift to replace an older, well-used under-the-counter radio. The features that sold us on this model were the CD player, battery to hold the time after power outages, and buttons for preset AMFM radio stations. The magentic remote is pretty nice, too - Id like a unit myself! The service from Vanns was fantastic. Wed never done business with this company before but certainly wont hesitate to in the future.

I bought this radio because I wanted a kitchen radio. I had strongly considered buying a Bose. But after reading reviews on the Bose and then reading the reviews on this Sony Im glad I changed my mind. This is a great sounding radio and the price is great. By the way my mother-in-law has a Bose. No difference in sound quiality. Only thing you might want to consider is the 3CD player instead of the 1CD. I didnt know there was a 3CD player until I had the 1CD player bought.
Either way its a great buy and product, cant go wrong.

So Ive finally installed the Sony under counter CD playerradio. The speaker works well and it is nice to know that I will have entertainment in the kitchen. The clock functions seem superior, such that beyond the timer on my oven, I dont think I am going to need a timer in the kitchen. Most of the functions are pretty intuitive though the time set did require a little pamphlet reading. The remote is a cute little thing which thank goodness has a magnetic back so I can stick on the refrigerator and wont lose it. There is a funny little piece of plastic for holding a plugged in iPod - which doesnt fit if the Sony is mounted under a counter, so I dont get the point. In fact, the whole arrangement for accessing the iPod plug-in is so awkward for an under the counter mount that I cant imagine actually using that mode. Not an issue for me since I am not an iPod user. The aerial is one of those the-electrical-line-is-the-aerial which is means that you have to unfurl the darned thing if you have marginal reception for a station that you want to listen to. All-in-all, I like it though it has more shortcomings than I anticipated.

I received the player in good condition, no setup problems, easy to install, and good reception both AM and FM. Enen though we live in a fringe area.
The CD player has played every CD we have put in it. The versatile AM-FM tuner selectionrecall capability is as extensive as most people would need.
Tonal quality is certainly satisfactory. I am satisfied with the purchase.

I was very pleased with this product.
It wass easy to install under the cabinets in my kitchen. The spacer that are provided with the product allowed for different installation depths.
The sound quality is acceptable. This system is not meant to be played extremely loud. The sound volume, however, is plenty for any normal use it is not a boom box.
I have received several compliments about this since I installed it last month.
Overall, I am very pleased with this product.
I purchased this through Vanns. Their price was awesome, they delivered it quickly, and I would be happy to do business with them again in the future!

My ICFCDK50 Sony kitchen clock radio has enough sound for an audiophile, takes so little space it fits in the tiniest of kitchens, like mine, and plays CDs just in case you have a hankering for Hank Williams or a yen for Yo Yo Ma.
Cook up a storm while finding out the weather report, marinate new potatoes while you listen to the news, enjoy a bacon quiche with a Brahms Concerto and some Kona coffee or set the timer for your mashed potatoes while you dance to Dee Dee Sharps song of the same name.
Slim as a fashion model, my under-the-counter Sony radio is high class all the way with a quality of sound that blows away Bose. Okay maybe it isnt superior to a Bose model but for much less money you can buy almost as much sound and its pretty to look at, easy to use and has the cutest remote that will stick to your fridge so you never will lose it.
My Sonys no phony. Its the real deal and a good deal at that.

I have to have music in the kitchen. Since we did not include wall or ceiling mounted speakers in our remodel and counter space is at a premium, this RadioCD player was a perfect fit. Sound isnt awesome, but is very acceptable considering the size of the speakers and the tuner is more sensitive than most radios Ive seen recently. It pulls in weak stations very respectably. A feature that I really like is the built-in mini plug to connect your MP3 player or Satellite Radio receiver. The timer is also handy. You cant have too many of those in the kitchen. Overall, I give this device 8 of a possible 10 points. I wish it could sound better but its just not possible to do so and take up so little space. This is, in my opinion, the best you can do for a tucked away sound source.

This is a great kitchen radio. I decided to purchase it after reading all the previous 5-star reviews. I am equally impressed. The shipping was very fast, and my husband installed it within minutes. It fits perfectly under the cabinet, has a nice LED timechannel display, and is easy to use no instructions necessary. The white cord is easy to plug and hide. After reading some reviews I was skeptical of the AMFM performance in fringe areas. Now that I have installed the unit, I could not have asked for better reception. And the CD play also works great. I dont believe a Bose radio would sound much better .
