Get it together!
These days, your music comes from a variety of sources. You have your CDs, including a couple that your friend of family member burned for you. Then you have your MP3 player. But then you still like to tune in to good ol' radio to hear the latest hits before you buy them. You may even have a few other places you get your music, like tapes, or the computer. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to get all that music organized so you can play it from the same place? Well . . . you can, and it's not hard either. Meet the MHC-EC909iP from Sony. This mini hi-fi system is a lot more than the boomboxes of yesteryear. First of all, it has a CD player. But, unlike most CD players in the past, this supports burned CD-R or CD-RW discs, including MP3s. Then there's the radio. The main unit has both AM and FM tuners built-in, and it can remember up to 30 different stations so you don't have to. This Sony mini system also has a built-in iPod dock. The dock, which supports many different versions of iPods and iPhones allows you to control your iPod to find and play just the song you're seeking. You can even control the iPod — or any other part of the system — with the included remote control. Plus, as a bonus, the iPod dock will charge your iToy while you listen. If your MP3 player isn't made by Apple, don't worry; the 3.5mm audio input will still gladly allow you to play music from your portable device. Of course, the audio input is also great for computers, tape players, or really anything with a headphone output. Get your music organized with the MHC-EC909iP.
Small size, big sound
A large part of the appeal for a mini system is that it doesn't take up your whole living room, bedroom, or office. But, at the same time, you still want big system sound. By that token, the MHC-EC909iP delivers. It's compact enough to fit easily on a medium-sized shelf or stand, but it's capable of pumping your listening area full of more sound than you can handle. With two speakers and separate subwoofer, this Sony boombox can hit the highs and the lows of your music. And, with an amplifier capable of consistently pushing 540W of power to the speakers, it can hit the notes hard. Now, chances are that you're not going to be pushing this system to the limit often (if you do at all), but it's still nice to know that the power's there, so if you ever do want to crank the volume, you can count on sound that isn't washed-out.
Front and center
Many of today's mini systems rely on their decades-old counterparts for inspiration, sometimes a little too much. Accompanying the advanced connectivity options of the MHC-EC909iP is a very modern look. Blue with black accents, the styling of this mini hi-fi set-up is very current without going over-the-top with wild colors and ridiculous angles. Put simply, it's a snazzy design that will look at home just about anywhere.
