Having enjoyed my Pioneer reciever for over 30 years, it was time for an upgrade. I did a lot of research and chose the Onkyo for its many features and a great price from Vanns . I have it coupled with Klipsch speakers in a 5.1 surround system in my man cave. It sounds great for both music and movies. It ties easily into my home network to play all the music stored on my computer. Just a great product!

I ordered this and shortly after I started seeing many of the problems that you read about on various blogs even Onkyos. I started having to power cycle the receiver so the picture would come back. I did all of the firmware updates and they didn't seem to work. I returned and ordered a Denon that was on sale. Its unfortunate, because when it worked, this thing sounded great and feature rich. I just didn't want to deal with the problems moving forward. One thing I didn't like was the firmware updates and the audio setup. I went through the setup, then it wanted to do updates. After my updates, the setup was gone and I had to start over. It wasn't hard to do, just time consuming and something I would have avoided if I knew about it.

Biggest bang for the Buck $ For the money this has got to be one of the better recievers out there in its MSRP price range. Granted it can be had for a lot less than MSRP. I absolutely love it. I originally ordered the 414 thinking its good enough for me. I was wrong. For a few dollars more this is the better deal. I have it hooked up to a 5.1 setup in my living room and cannot be happier. The onscreen displays are pretty good, upconversion is great, sound quality is perfect. Again for my small living room area its a perfect match.

Great unit and quite an upgrade from my 20yr old RCA....Only draw back is zone 2 only works on an analog input....cant use the better hdmi cables,,,other than that I am very pleased..
